Toomelah Multi Purpose Hall

POD worked with Kramer Ausenco between 2016 and 2017 to design a multipurpose facility in the remote Aboriginal community of Toomelah in New South Wales. The design process included engagement with the Local Aboriginal Land Council, Moree Shire Council and community organisations. The facility was part of a larger works program funded and constructed through The Army Aboriginal Community Assistance Programme (AACAP) which included road, lighting and services upgrades for the whole community. The new facility embeds connection to County through sightlines and colours. Site planning features an important community gathering space in the landscape between the facility and adjacent church. This facility provides an important entry statement and a new focal point for Toomelah.
